Publication note: This is a professionally drafted working policy. LSS should add its correct legal entity, registration details and retention periods, then obtain qualified UK legal review before relying on it.
1 Quotations and bookings
Quotations depend on the language, dialect, volume, complexity, format, location and timescale disclosed. A request is not a confirmed booking. A contract begins only when LSS confirms acceptance in writing.
2 Client responsibilities
The client must provide complete, accurate and lawful instructions, suitable reference material, safe working arrangements and timely access to participants. The client confirms it has authority to share all supplied information.
3 Translation services
LSS will use reasonable skill and care and work toward agreed delivery dates. Changes, unclear source material or delayed instructions may affect the price and timetable. Queries should be raised promptly with specific examples.
4 Interpreting services
The client must provide the correct language and dialect, date, time, location or platform, expected duration and subject. Cancellation, travel, waiting and overrun charges should appear in the quotation or confirmation. A suitably qualified substitute may be arranged where reasonably necessary.
5 Fees and payment
Fees, expenses, taxes and payment dates will be stated in the quotation or invoice. LSS may require a deposit or advance payment. Applicable statutory late-payment rights are reserved.
6 Confidentiality and data
Information is handled in line with LSS confidentiality and data-protection arrangements. Clients should identify unusually sensitive material or enhanced security requirements before work starts.
7 Liability and professional advice
Language services facilitate communication and do not constitute legal, medical or financial advice. Any liability limit must be stated in the final legally reviewed terms and cannot exclude liability where the law prohibits exclusion.
8 Events outside reasonable control
Neither party should be responsible for delay caused by events outside reasonable control, provided the affected party communicates promptly and takes reasonable steps to reduce disruption.
9 Governing law
The final terms must identify the contracting entity, registered or trading address, applicable law and jurisdiction, without limiting mandatory consumer rights.
